The Dominican: Brussels’ Finest Hotel

By maandag, april 25, 2016 0 Permalink

Last week, we had the opportunity to stay a night in one of Brussels’ most luxurious hotspots and hotels: The Dominican. After a warm welcome by the receptionist, we received the key card of our Opera Suite. What I saw when opening the suite’s door, was far from what I was expecting to see. I was familiar with the hotel though, since I was present on last year’s Brunch Beats that was held here in the lounge and restaurant. It’s true that The Dominican is a one of a kind design pearl, and the fact that the building housed a Dominican monastery in the 15th century makes everything even more exciting. The Dominican’s history is well preserved and integrated into its interior, what makes this hotel unlike any other.

Our suite had huge windows, up to the classical high ceilings, which provided the room with a lot of light. We immediately discovered a special box on the living room table with some suprises! For example, it contained a rubber duck with a message around its neck saying that if we took a photo with it and post it on social media with the hashtag #thedominicanduck, we could win another night at the hotel. Also, the box contained chocolates, maps of Brussels, discount vouchers to buy decoration at the hotel, for a glass of champagne in the pretty lounge,… In other words, a really cool suprise!

We went wandering through the streets of Brussels, went dining at Belga Queen (located in the street next to the hotel) and found peace at the spa of the hotel afterwards. Another uncommon fact about The Dominican: at the spa they installed a boxing room. Ideal in case you need to abreact from a hard day at work, or if you just love to work out heavily.

We slept like babies in the soft and oh so comfortable bed and enjoyed a delicious breakfast with fruits, pancakes and bacon and eggs. In short, our stay formed the perfect escapade from reality everyone needs from time to time. I warmly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a city trip to Brussels, since all places of interest are nearby (5 to 10 minutes on foot)!

I want to thank the staff so much for having us. I’m sure we will come back soon!

Love, Ornella
