OUTFIT | How To: Gypsy Gone Chique

Cover image of blog

❛A gypsy soul isn’t lost and looking. A gypsy soul is one who loves movement and finding the pulse in nature and flight as a metaphor. One who thinks everything’s music. One who knows and holds an inward and therefore outwardly contagious kind of freedom.❜

-Victoria Erickson, author Edge of Wonder

Just like Mrs. Erickson above wants to give another, more precise and applicable meaning to the word ‘gypsy’ and everything that it represents, I want to show you another way of dressing the gypsy style way. Whenever someone says ‘gypsy’ they actually mean indeed freedom, unruliness, turbulence. What better way than to honor that kind of lifestyle than by not obeing the rules, doing whatever we want to do and therefore: giving the gypsy dress code a twist. I opted for some chique accents -in this case a fine necklace that I got from my Dad that symbols Asclepius, the god of medicine (I’m sorry if I didn’t take it in detail, it’s coming back in several earlier outfit posts though!), another silver longer necklace from Ios island and my black thick Hermès bracelet I got from my Mom for Christmas- to replace the typical frills and furbelows such as feet, head and body jewels. So yes, I dare to mix and match gold and silver details. I mean, why wouldn’t I? This blogpost is about breaking the rules after all.

What I like about the dress in particular are the colorful tassels on the top part of it. I wouldn’t have liked it if the dress were all black, that sight would’ve been too depressing. Of course, without the tassels I guess the gypsy look would’ve failed automatically! I wore my snake printed boots underneath it and except from some golden gladiator sandals that lace up all around your lower legs, no other shoes would fit this outfit better in my opinion! Mind the penny bead details!

I hope I could convince you to try out the Gypsy Gone Chique look yourself. I swear, nothing’s more fun than doing it the way nobody does!
